Teen Second Life is an international gathering place for teens 13-17 to make friends, play, learn and create. In Teen Second Life. Teens can create and customize a digital self called an “avatar,” fly through an ever-changing 3D landscape, chat and socialize with other teens from all over the world, and build anything from skyscrapers to virtual vehicles. It’s more than a videogame and much more than an Internet chat program – it’s a boundless world of surprise and adventure that encourages teens to work together and use their imaginations.
You can explore the world, build, script, socialize with other teens from all over the world, design clothes, play games, write scripts, host events to partys, make a tsl blog, go to tsl office hours, own your land, chat through Voice, Upload files, Show of your skills, fight at combat areas, dance, fly, create a new look for yourself, own a island, take snapshots, listen to music and the radio or whatever you’re inspired to do here in TSL.

Q. I’m Not Sure what to do, I need help?
+ Meet new friends by right clicking on someone then “Add Friend”
+ Take a Snapshot of something interesting by clicking the “Snapshot” Button
+ Exchange objects, scripts, money, textures and photos by dragging it onto someones “Give Item” in their profile
+ Click Search > Groups > search for groups then join them
+ Make new clothing > Inventory > New Clothes
+ Click Map Button and find out where you are in TSL, double click to teleport to other locations on the map.

Q. How do I make money in Teen Second Life?
- Search for “money chairs” or “dance pads”, that can offer you free money L$’s
- Build and sell your items
- Click L$ button next to SLT time
- Log into your account online then buy/sell lindens at secondlife.com
- Going to a event, contest, festival in which you could win a prize or money!

Q. How do I find a group?
- Second Life’s Search window makes searching for groups quick and easy.
- Click Search at the bottom of the Second Life window.
- Click on the Groups tab.
- Type in part of the name of the group you are looking for.
- You can click on the group listing for details and even join the group.
Q. How do I find out everything I’m wearing?
- Click the Inventory button at the bottom of your screen if your inventory isn’t already open. Click in the search bar near the top of the Inventory window and type in “(worn)”
- Everything you are wearing (body parts, clothing, and attachments) will show up in bold with “(worn)” next to its name.
- Select Edit > Detach object and look at the list. This will show all the attachment points on your avatar that have an object attached to them.
Q. What is a group liability?
- If a group member has the Pay group liabilities and receive group dividends ability associated with their role, that member automatically pays an equal share of group costs with the other group members with the same ability. In turn, that same group member will also automatically receive an equal share of L$ that get paid to the group. If nobody in the group has this ability, then group liabilities are paid by and dividends are paid to the group’s owner (the group’s owner always has all abilities).
Q. Who is the owner of an object?
- To find out who owns a particular object
- Right-click the object and select Edit
- The Edit window opens
- Click the General tab
- Locate the listing for Owner
- If a Resident is listed as the owner, click Profile to view the Resident’s profile
- If (Group Owned) is listed as the owner, the object belongs to a group
Q. Who is the creator of an object?
- To find out who created a particular object:
- Right-click the object and select Edit.
- The Edit window opens.
- Click the General tab.
- Locate the listing for Creator.
- If you want to, click the Profile button to view the Resident’s profile.
Q. What is a Inventory?
- Your inventory is where everything you own is kept e.g. clothes, objects, landmarks etc.
- To open it, press the inventory button at the bottom right of your screen. You can also search your inventory - simply type the name of the item you’re searching for in the space at the top of the window.

Q. What happens when I turn 18 years old?
- When you turn 18 you become eligible for transfer to the Main Grid where the age limit is 18+
- To move to the main grid, you may be asked to send us a copy of a school/government issued ID showing your date of birth. Driver’s License, Passport, or Military ID for example. Send a scan photocopy or fax to Linden Lab and we will process your account, and wish you a happy birthday!
**Steps**
- File a support ticket at Secondlife.com/support

- Join the TG Transfers group
- Apply for a Background check if you wish to come back
Q. How do I unpack a box?
- Find the new/old item in inventory if it’s an object it will be most likely it will need to be unpacked.
- Drag the object to the ground (this can be done in any sandbox or build regions.
- The object will appear, or rez on the ground
- Right click the object, and choose “open” from the menu.
- Once the contents show, simply drag the entire contents folder to your inventory, if you want everything, or just drag the items you want to inventory, or click the ‘copy to inventory’ button
Q. What is Lindex?
- The “Linden Exchange”, an in-world currency trading system where you may buy, or sell, Linden Dollars for real world currency (restricted to the US$ at present, but may of course be converted afterwards to your own currency.
Q. What is Lag?
- When there is network congestion between you and the server, or the server is overworked, there will be occasional pauses and delays in things happening whilst your computer waits for data to be processed.

Q. How do I create a Landmark?
- World > Create Landmark Here
- All landmarks that you bookmark will be stored in your Inventory under Landmarks folder
- Double click to teleport to go to that location
Q. How do I edit my appearance?
-Right-click on yourself. Select Appearance.
-Try some of the other buttons and sliders. Click “Randomize” for a whole new look!
-If you don’t like what you got, click “Revert” to go back to your original look.
-If you like what you see, click “Save As…” and choose a name for your new shape.
Q. How do I view the Statistics Bar?
- Select View > Statistics Bar
Q. How do I add a friend in Teen Second Life?
- Local chat > Click on their name > Add Friend
- Right click on their Avatar, and then click Add Friend
- Or Search > People > Profile > Add Friend
Q. How do I take a snapshot?
- Click Snapshot Button
- It will then take a photo of your current screen
- You can now pick to Save it to Either: Save snapshot to hard drive, Upload a Snapshot or Send a postcard.
- To upload a photos in Teen Second Life it will cost you 10L$ per file.
Q. How do I fly?
- Click Fly while using your arrow keys and page up and down to fly around.
Q. How do I buy land in TSL?
- Search > Land Sales
- Or you can Right-click the parcel you want to purchase.
- Choose About Land.
- Click the Buy Land buttom, remember to read the info before buying
- It will give you a variety of information about your land purchase
Q. How do I join up with a partner in TSL?
- You can propose to your partner in your own words, just by filling out the form at http://www.secondlife.com/partner.
- If your partner is willing, you’ll find out within a week, and your partner fields in your profiles will be filled in automatically with each other’s name.
- To get married will now cost you and your partner each L$10. And make your decision carefully, because if you decide to get divorced, the requesting partner will be charged L$25.
Q. What is the difference between Mainland and Private Islands in Teen Second Life?
- Private Islands are paid for by residents for residents
- Mainland is given land by LL.
Q. How do I clear my cache?
- Edit > Preferences > Network > Clear cache
- Edit > Preferences > Web > Clear Browser Now
Q What’s a griefer?
- Someone who does not stick with the TSL rules and tries to upset other people on purpose by for example shooting where this is not allowed. Please file a Abuse Report
Q. How do I sell things in Teen Second Life?
- Create your object then put some useful and interesting content in.
- Right-click the object and choose Edit.
- Click on the General tab. (Click More, if you don’t see it.)
- Select the For Sale checkbox.
- Enter the appropriate price (in L$) in the box next to For Sale.
+ What are the methods then?
- Original: Sell that exact object. When a resident buys the object, it will stay right where it is and change owners.
- Copy: Sell a copy of the object. The object will remain where it is, and the purchaser will receive a copy of the object.
- Contents: Sell the objects, clothing, etc. in the Contents of the object. The purchaser will receive a folder (with the same name as the object) containing a copy of the object’s contents (or the contents themselves if they are no-copy).
Q. How do I create my own group?
- Group creation costs L$100.
- Any group that has less than 2 people for 48 hours will be disbanded.
To make a group, follow these steps:
- Select Edit > Groups > Create
- In the General tab, enter the name of the group, and the charter. The charter is a general listing of what the group is for and what the group does.
- You can also drag a texture onto the Group Insignia box that will be displayed in the group’s profile.
- You can also enable Open Enrollment (anyone can join without an invitation), as well as creating an Enrollment Fee that residents must pay to join the group.
- In the Members & Roles tab, use the various subtabs to accomplish other tasks:
- In the Members subtab, you can invite and eject members from the group.
- In the Roles subtab, you can create new roles and assign abilities to those roles.
- In the Abilities subtab, you can browse the descriptions of abilities and see who has them.
When you’re finished, click OK.
How do I perform a gesture?
- View your Inventory and open the Gestures folder.
- Right-click the appropriate gesture and choose Open.
- Look at the entry for Trigger. The gesture will play whenever it encounters this text in chat.
- Or, look at the Shortcut Key. You can press this key (or key combination) any time in or out of chat to perform this gesture.
Q. What are Avatar Impostors?
- You may notice that some far-away avatars now seem to animate a little more jerkily than you remember; that’s because they have been replaced by Avatar Impostors! Avatar - Impostors are two-dimensional renderings of avatars, designed to improve the performance of your Second Life client when there are many avatars on your screen at the same time.
- Even though the Impostors are two-dimensional animated textures, they do not look any different than the 3D avatars they represent- with the exception of your improved framerate, you may not even notice their presence!
Q. Why can’t I log into the Teen Second Life Forums?
- The Second Life Forums require you to meet the following conditions:
- You have logged in to Second Life at least once with your account.
- You have valid payment info on file for your account, if your account was created after August 20, 2006.
- You can update your payment information here. You don’t need to have a Premium account.
- If one or both of these aren’t true, then you can’t access the forums. The reason why this is done is to deter abuse such as spam.
- If you’re unsure: Inworld, select Edit > Profile from the menus at the top of the Second Life window and see what it says under Account: on the right. It must either be “Payment Info Used” or “Payment Info on File” to count.
Q. How do I attach and detach objects from my avatar?
- To attach an object from your Inventory, right-click the object in yourInventory and choose Wear.
- To attach an object that exists in the Second Life world, right-click the object and choose More >, then Attach>, then select the body part you want the object to center on. The attachment moves as that body part (for example, your right hand) moves.
- Once attached, you can right-click the object and choose Edit to change its position relative to its attachment point. You can move the attachment by dragging its XYZ axes, or rotate it by holding down Ctrl. You can hold Ctrl+Shift to resize the entire attachment.
- To detach an object from your avatar, you have two options: 1) Right-click the attachment and choose Detach. 2) Or, right-click the object in your Inventory window and choose Detach from Yourself. A good trick for quickly finding an attached object within your Inventory is to search it for “worn”. This will show all clothing items, body parts and attachments you’re currently wearing.
Q. How to change my active group?
- Select Edit > Groups from the menus at the top of the Second Life window.
- Click on the name of the group you wish to make active.
- You’ll be using the title that group has given you.
- Click the Activate button.
- When the group name appears in bold (this means it’s active), click Close.
- Alternately, if you don’t want a title right now, click on none, click Activate, then click Close.
